notice the scythe of metal trim coming off his passenger side rear fender. Driving right through my daughters school zone where there are a ton of kids out walking.

Most of 'em that age, the "metal" is actually metallized rubber. Not all, but most. I'm not sure where the year transition is.

Reminds me of cars with broken bumpers that have pieces flapping in the breeze on the highway. YOU'RE CAR IS A PIECE OF SHIT, JUST RIP IT OFF ALREADY.
Its not doing any one any good just hanging around.

this was all metal for sure the way it was bent and the color of it even on the backside. Even if it was rubber though that is eye level for kiddos

at least drill some holes Ziptie and add 200 MPH tape to it.

But that would take effort, something the owners of these cars don't know how to do.

Well except for the metal hanging about waiting to give someone tetanus.

The metallized rubber trim I'm familiar with is the same on all sides, and I honestly thought it was metal until a piece came off of our Suburban. That being said, I don't know what differences exist in the trim used on Scottsdale vs. Silverado, and at what point in the 80s it became a mostly glued-on thing.
The rubber trim I'm thinking of would be funny to slap an adult with and sting for days. Perhaps punishment for this chap.

That's not really near the sidewalk. Also, it looks like it doesn't extend much farther out than a towing mirror would, and if someone makes a habit out of getting close enough to vehicles to be hit by it, they're going to have a bad time sooner or later.

I wish I had a piece of that to slap some people at a concert at I was at Saturday night. The crowd ruined it for me. Chick behind me sounded like Fran Drescher and wouldn't stop talking (my girlfriend pointed this out to her and her boyfriend wanted to kick my ass for it), then a drunk frat boy started shit with me close to the end of the show after I asked him to stop stepping on my toes. I left before I punched him. Beat with rubber trim all the people!
Oh yeah and this was an acoustic singer songwriter, not what I was expecting

yeah, the bike lane disappears right past the school sign, and not everyones kids are smart enough to keep it to the sidewalk. Maybe this is Darwins tool here

this is why i refuse general admission tickets anymore. If I don't have a seat I'm not going. Way too many almost fights at concerts for me. (not saying the above scenario couldn't have happened in legit seats)

yeah this was GA only, only shows in town with seats are at the civic center, and the only people that play there are like Britney Spears and shit. My girl got us tickets. She was not sad to leave the show early, which sucks for her more than anything

yeah, that's the thing, for me - I'll just pass on the show. It's not worth it anymore.

lol
I'm getting older.
In this case I absolutely know that's a fact.
I don't want to fight a crowd to get back up to a good spot if I have to go to the bathroom or get a drink. And my knee doesn't appreciate it either.
I also realized I used to spend the whole show keeping my wife (then g/f) from getting squished in a mosh pit. You know, those pits we used to start.
Just not worth it. I'd rather sit down between sets, and not have to defend my space

yeah, I feel more and more this is the case. My knees hate it too. Gonna be fun when I have one replaced this year. I might go full codger at that point

yeah it has been coming for years. Part of the reason I shut my garage and went back into marketing was the insurance so I could do it. very little cartilage in one, the other is pretty bad too. Too many young miles riding bikes competitively, and the crashes that come along with it.
GET OFFA MY LAWN!!!! :)

I mean, if they're playing in the street and get within 2 feet of a moving vehicle, there's a good chance they're going the extra couple inches and will get hit anyway. Could it be dangerous if a specific set of actions take place where they would have gotten away without a scratch? Sure, but I think the likelihood of that happening is very small. Also, maybe it just peeled off and he doesn't know about it yet?

Rubber or metal doesn't matter that much, it's dangerous even at 20 or 30 mph. A long time ago we used to go hunting in northern Ontario with a group of about 8 or so. One of the guys had been an engineer with CN for probably 40 years. To get to the lodge you had to ride the passenger train north to the lake, which was technically a "maintenance camp" stop, unused for years. The engineer warned us about standing too close to the tracks (he advised a good 30 or 40 feet back, the farther the better). I asked why, maybe rocks or something? Nope: cargo straps. Wha? Those nylon straps with ratchets would break frequently (they use them until they fall apart). The loose strap then flaps along the train. They had numerous instances of people standing by the tracks getting killed, cut in half, defenestrated, etc. by the strap as the train went by even at lower speeds. Sure, on a mile+ long train, you might have something come loose and not know for a while. No excuse for loose flapping shit on cars, ever.
